The Sydney Wine Academy Launch WSET Level 1 Award in Sake

by Caroline Carey | Feb 24, 2017

The Sydney Wine Academy has now added the internationally recognised Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 1 Award in Sake to its growing number of courses.

This one day wine course is an excellent introduction for both the professionals and enthusiasts to encounter Sake for the first time. It covers basic knowledge on sake styles and covers the storage and service of Sake.

The courses will be taught by one of Australia’s leading Sake experts, Yukino Ochiai. Yukino is a certified WSET Sake educator, an international Sake judge and established her specialist importing business Déjà vu Sake company in 2012.

This course offers a hands-on introduction to the world of sake. It explores the main styles and types of sake through sight, smell and taste to develop an understanding of the key factors affecting flavours and aromas.

Clive Hartley, Course Director of Sydney Wine Academy said that the Academy is proud to be the only provider in Australia to offer both the WSET level 1 and 3 Awards in Sake. “It’s a fantastic opportunity to gain specialist knowledge of the niche market of Sake and undertaking level 1 will give you the confidence to learn more and successfully progress to level 3.”

The WSET Level 1 Award in Sake will run on Monday 13th February 9 til 5pm in the Sydney CBD.
